Peter Walzer, MD, MScDr. Walzer is Associate Chairman for Research in the Department of Internal Medicine and ACOS for Research at the VA Medical Center. He has long been recognized internationally as a leader in P. carinii research. His studies have mainly focused on immunopathogenesis and therapy of the infection. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, and has been elected to membership in the American College of Physicians, Infectious Disease Society of America (Fellow), American Federation for Clinical Research, Central Society for Clinical Research, American Society for Microbiology, American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, American Society for Parasitologists, American Thoracic Society, Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine, American Association of Immunologists and Sigma Xi. Dr. Walzer was awarded the Faculty Achievement Award from the University of Cincinnati in 1997. His published works include approximately 115 original publications, three books, 70 chapters, reviews, editorials and letters and 105 abstracts and presented papers.
